Unique Places to Find Leads
I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago for a canvassing workshop/bootcamp. We finished canvassing the in-store tenants of a quiet six-tenant shopping center. On the way to the car, we see a van that said La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, so I told the guys I was canvassing with to hold on while I ran up to the van.
To paint the picture, the van had four guys in grey work uniforms standing around it. Empty parking lot. The guys I was with thought I was nuts.
I approached and asked “Habla Ingles?” to which the driver responded, “Yes, we speak English”… in perfect English, which made me feel bad.
I told him we owned 50 shopping centers in the Atlanta area and asked if they have any plans to expand.
He said, “Yes, I do”.
I asked how many locations they have, and he responded SIX. SIX Locations!
At this point, I waved the colleagues over to introduce them to… the OWNER of the restaurant. That’s right, the owner of a six-restaurant chain was wearing a grey uniform just like his workers!
Since then, the guys in Atlanta have shown them space.
So stay aware, and don’t say no for the prospect!
The next tip is to pay attention to the Value Pack you get for free in the mail. There are usually 3-5 companies in there that are spending money on direct mail because they have disposable income to invest in marketing and may be interested in opening another location!
Lastly, read the news in hard copies!
The ads in the paper are precious lead material. It cost a lot of money to advertise in the Miami Herald. That means DISPOSABLE INCOME. AKA they are doing well!
So stay vigilant my friends! Get those leases signed!
